The Reuters report also suggests that the accident

To fuel the debate, in a recent interview with National Geographic [1] , explorers Bob Ballard and James Cameron attributed the tragedy not only to an engineering failure, but also to a regulatory failure, considering that there was no proper risk management on the part of OceanGate.

In a similar vein, a Reuters report [2] cites James Cameron's support for a regulation that at least requires certificates for submersibles that transport passengers, tourists or scientists, highlighting the need for such regulation to cover all countries in which such companies operate.

The Reuters report also suggests that the accident could have been avoided given the numerous warnings that OceanGate received, since, back in 2018, it was warned that the lack of certification could lead sms gateway taiwan to a catastrophic outcome. In fact, several media outlets, such as the New York Times [3] , paid great attention to the fact that there was no shortage of warnings to OceanGate, both from internal and external sources.

Among the internal sources, the report cites Director of Maritime Operations, who signed off on the report that the submersible needed further testing, also pointing out the potential danger of taking passengers to such depths. Just to give you an idea, while a military submarine normally operates at depths of between 300 and 400 meters, the Titan descended to approximately 4,000 meters.

Two months later, OceanGate received numerous warnings from dozens of people—industry leaders, deep-sea explorers, and oceanographers—concerned about the experimental approach and the lack of respect for the Marine Technology Society’s guidelines.
