Some of the most famous theorists in the field of psychology have long established that socializing with other people and the desire to belong are one of the most basic human needs. The more I work with people (and on myself), the more I see that this is indeed true. Highly intelligent people have very complex inner worlds of thought and ways of perceiving the external world, and they like to talk about complex topics and concepts. Unfortunately, there are simply not a large number of other people with whom they can openly and “in depth” discuss this, and it is pointless for them to waste time on “small talk” and some common conversational topics.

Because of this, they often have a smaller circle of real friends and enjoy solitude a bit more often. However, this does not mean that they do not need human contact! Unfortunately, this is not helped by the fact that nowadays there are fewer and fewer real friendships, stable marriages and partnerships, which certainly does not make fertile ground for the quality development of social relations.

Lower your expectations, both of yourself and of other people – this will prevent dissatisfaction and you will be able to navigate your normal day more calmly.
