How to create KPIs in Power BI

Post by [email protected] »

There are two main ways to create KPIs in Power BI: using the data model or using the KPI visual.

– Using the data model: This option allows you to create KPIs in Power BI Desktop, using the Power Pivot editor. To do this, you must have a data model with the measures and goals defined, and then select the base measure and click Create KPI. A dialog box will open where you can configure the KPI parameters, such as the goal, threshold, and format. Once the KPI is created, you can view it in the fields panel and use it in any visual that supports KPIs, such as tables, matrices, or cards.

– Using the KPI visual: This option allows you to create KPIs directly on the Power BI canvas, using the KPI visual found in the visualization pane. To do this, you need to drag the base measure to the cambodia telegram data Indicator field, the target measure or value to the Target field, and the trend measure or field to the Trend field. The KPI visual will show the current value of the indicator, the performance status (green, yellow, or red), and the trend in the form of a line chart.

How to visualize KPIs in Power BI
Once you’ve created your KPIs , the next step is to visualize them effectively, in order to communicate information clearly and concisely. Power BI offers a wide variety of visuals to represent KPIs, each with its own advantages and disadvantages, depending on the type of data, purpose, and audience.

Below, we’ll introduce some of the most common and useful visuals for visualizing KPIs in Power BI, and give you some tips on choosing the right one.
