Instagram launches new temporary holiday-focused features in stories: templates, collages and more

ANDLast November, Instagram began testing collage creation in stories between some of its users and in direct message chats. Now, for the Christmas season, this option will be available to everyone during the first week of January.


Here are Instagram's new features for Christmas
The main idea behind making collages available to all users on Instagram stories is to show their year-end summary with photos. This feature mimics Pinterest's collages from its Shuffles app .

For direct message chats, they have included new themes so that conversations with your friends have a more Christmas spirit. They have also added options for typical clichés of this season to include in your Instagram notes.

At the same time, they have also launched “Your Turn” templates with a fusion database festive tone to encourage users to participate in content creation trends. They have also created new New Year and countdown text effects.

Lastly, they've also added a custom animation to the likes you give to your friends' stories with a New Year's template.


It is worth noting that this does not mean that you cannot make collages of your year in review until the first week of 2025. You can still make collages using the “Layout” function and “Create” mode, adding different images from your gallery in different sizes and shapes.
