According to the report "Internet in Spain and in the world", prepared by Tatum, investment in advertising on the Internet continues to grow. To carry out this report, the consultancy firm has based its results on AMIC data from the end of 2008. Among the
conclusions obtained, the increase in advertising investment on the Internet stands out, accompanied
by the increase in the number of Spanish users and the time spent on the Internet.
According to data from IAB and PwC, investment 99 acres data in online advertising in Spain in 2008 was 610
million euros, 27% more than in 2007. This contrasts with the fact that excessive
advertising is the main problem of the Internet for 58% of users in Spain.
More than a third of online advertising investment comes from three sectors: transport,
travel and tourism; telecommunications; and finance. More is invested in search engines and
sponsored links than in graphic formats. And almost 80% is made in integrated formats
(sponsored links, banners and buttons, skyscrapers, sponsorships, etc.).
Social networks are becoming one of the main destinations for
online advertising investment worldwide. According to data from eMarketer,
1.45 billion euros were invested in social networks in 2008 and it is expected that this figure could increase.
