Measuring is knowing?

Post by Bappy11 »

But how big is the problem? There are plenty of warnings on Twitter about the use of social media during the holidays , and news reports about Twitter use during the holidays too. But there are no figures about how often such a message on Facebook, Twitter, Hyves and Foursquare leads to a burglary. Are there more burglaries now due to social media, or has there been a shift?

How many crimes are actually committed using social media? The answer: we italy phone number list don't know. Because it is not clearly recorded in the police systems. When recording reports of, for example, home burglaries, the officer handling the case does not automatically ask whether the person has indicated via social media that they are not at home. In many cases, this is not obvious either. And then the question remains whether there is a connection between the burglary and the information spread on social media.

There is little evidence that there are more burglaries as a result of vacation announcements on social media. Of course, there are some examples. For example, the very first Twittering neighborhood police officer in our country has at least turned a case.

But we didn't get much further.

What's the fuzz about?
Is the unsafe feeling then mainly based on feeling and logical thinking and much less on (scientific) research? This question can be viewed from a number of angles.
