"7 tips against the 'blank sheet'"

Meike Leopold, consultant and author

Meike Leopold on writer's blockYes, yes, the good old writer's block. I have to deal with it every day. Not only on my own blog, but also in collaboration with my corporate bloggers. Every day I hear the complaint: I can't think of anything! My 7 tips against the "blank page":

Let go: A topic is floating around in your head, but somehow you're missing student data a hook or a common thread? Don't keep digging if nothing works straight away. The search command in your brain is guaranteed to be running - in the background, so to speak. And at some point the switch will flip itself!
Gentle pressure: I have been an Iron Blogger for a few months and have only missed one week since then. Why does the principle work? Because blogging is always part of the hustle and bustle of everyday life. This means that your personal topic radar is always on air.
Good planning: Everyone knows their professional and personal “milestones” that are worth a blog post. Simply write down the dates and events for the coming weeks or months in your calendar over a glass of wine at the weekend and look at it regularly.
Standing principle: Keep a continuous collection of ideas - ideally on your mobile in the notes app or on Evernote. This way, the list can be added to at any time and is sure to help in an emergency.
Research: Subscribe to other blogs or news sites – for example via Feedly – and read them regularly. This not only makes you aware of interesting topics or articles, but also gives you the chance to network better with other blogs via backlinks.
Blog parade: When nothing else works, this one will definitely help. Because the topic has already been set by others. You just have to get stuck in.
Housewife test: Not only helps with text but also with topic checking. Simply ask family, friends or colleagues what they think of a particular topic, what comes to mind or whether they have a topic at all that they would like to know more about.
