What is plagiarism?
In short, plagiarism is the copying of a work without citing the original source (who is the author of the material that was copied) or without authorization from that source.

In other words, it is stealing something and saying it is yours. No, it is not an exaggeration – it is in the origin of the word. Plagiarism comes from the Latin plagium , which means theft.

It has nothing to do with parody, which is a form of sarcasm, criticism or homage to the original work. While plagiarism aims to deceive the public by saying that the work is yours, parody makes it clear that it is a reinterpretation.

Furthermore, there are some types of plagiarism: full, partial, conceptual, mosaic and, surprisingly, self-plagiarism.

Types of plagiarism
Full plagiarism: copying the entire text, word for word, without giving credit to the author;
Partial plagiarism: copying excerpts or parts, also without credits or citations;
Plagiarism mosaic: is the partial or complete copying of one or more sources, without giving due credit, with the alteration of words, phrases or paragraphs so that it does not appear to be an actual copy;
Conceptual plagiarism: also known as intellectual plagiarism, using an author's concept or ideas as if they were your own;
Self-plagiarism: as the name suggests, it is the practice of copying oneself and presenting the work as if it were new (“common” in academic circles ).
