Automatic Pix will be the next advancement of the instant transfer platform, this time focused on making it easier to pay bills, without having to open the bank app every month to settle them. Scheduled for June 2025 on the Central Bank of Brazil's (BCB) calendar, some banks have already started implementing the technology in their systems, in order to carry out tests and ensure that the general launch occurs smoothly.
Among them is Banco do Brasil (BB), which already has a pilot underway. The financial institution reported that the current phase, restricted to a small audience, includes debits in account holders' accounts and helps capture data to improve the journey of recipients and payers.
“The functionality will be made available to more companies with accounts at BB in waves starting in November,” BB said. “The debit in all institutions participating in the Pix ecosystem depends on the launch by BCB.”
Santander will also bring forward its rcs database launch: in November, the company will release Automatic Pix for individuals and legal entities.
However, this service will be restricted to transactions within the bank only. The company explained to the report that the release of the system to serve other financial institutions depends on the general availability of the service in the Pix ecosystem.
The Spanish bank also intends to use this period to collect more information about how the technology works.
In the oven
Other financial institutions are already preparing to implement the new feature in their systems.
In a statement, Itaú explained that it is “evolving with the solution internally” and “working with educational and engagement agendas with customers”, with the aim of starting the pilot in early 2025. In this first phase, as with the others, the new feature would only work between accounts at the same bank.
Caixa , in turn, said only that it “will follow the schedule established by the Central Bank” .
C6 Bank and Nubank are also preparing to launch the feature in the future, but have not released any further information about the release of the service.
PicPay highlighted the existence of similar functions to automate and schedule the use of the BCB's instant payment system, but did not detail its plans regarding the future use of Pix Automático. When contacted, Bradesco , BTG Pactual and Inter did not comment on their plans to launch Pix Automático until the time of publication.
