Coronavirus: reducing the impact of the crisis on trade

Post by shukla7789 »

Last week, Paraná began to feel the first impacts of the coronavirus crisis.

To reduce the chances of contagion, the State Government has decreed measures to combat the disease, including the suspension of:

Visits to theaters, cinemas, libraries, museums and cultural events;
Public or private events, of any kind, for audiences of more than 50 people;
Classes in public schools and universities;
The governor also ordered the closing of borders and 99 acres database the entry of buses from SP, RJ, BA and DF.

These actions are for an indefinite period .

At the same time, some municipalities announced, through decrees, the restriction or closure of commerce .

In addition, many companies have also decided to contribute to the containment of the virus by allowing their employees to work from home. Here at ACP, we have already adopted the home office model.

All these changes quickly impacted retail, services and industry. Micro and small entrepreneurs are the most vulnerable.

The impacts of coronavirus in Paraná

According to infectious disease specialists , social isolation is the most effective way to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Even in the second most affected country in the world, Italy, this measure has helped to reduce the number of new cases.

Avoiding crowds is equally important. Because of this, several Brazilian cities are defining their own provisional rules.

In Cascavel, for example, supermarkets must have a limited number of customers in the store . The number of items purchased per CPF will also be controlled. Pharmacies, bakeries, gas stations and other establishments must avoid crowds and intensify hygiene . Hotels must send a guest report to the City Hall every day.

In Foz do Iguaçu, shopping malls and local businesses were closed . Bars, cinemas, museums, theaters, conferences, parties and gyms were suspended.

Commerce was also interrupted in Maringá, along with street markets and visits to public parks.

In the capital, there is currently no decree prohibiting commerce. Even so, we see many shopkeepers closing their doors in order to contribute to the health and safety of the population. See the ACP's note on the subject .

The tendency is for the economy of the entire state of Paraná to enter quarantine .

How to survive the coronavirus crisis?

Faced with this new scenario, micro and small entrepreneurs feel exposed.

How to survive 30, 40 or more days selling less?

Entrepreneurs in the events, hotel and tourism sectors are showing concern, as are those whose cash flow is negative.

How to gain momentum and mitigate the impacts of the coronavirus crisis?

The answer lies in the way we do business. We need to be open to dialogue and we need to reinvent ourselves.

Here are some suggestions:

Bet on eCommerce
For many entrepreneurs, eCommerce can be a good alternative. The tip is to read the segment and reposition your product.

But to support an operation like this, you need to have cash on hand. After all, implementation will generate costs.
