6. Use headings
Just like the heading tags (H1-H6) on a web page, you can assign headings to specific text in a PDF.


Locate the text you want to edit in the document hierarchy
Right click on the tab
Click Properties​
Select the relevant Heading Level from the drop-down list.

7. Add links
Like any page, internal and external links affect ranking. Links pass PageRank between pages , and their anchor text provides context. By adding links to your PDFs and from your PDFs to other pages, you can have links throughout your site passing PageRank to each other, rather than creating dead ends. Some PDFs get a lot of links. Larry Page once said , "It turns out that people who win Nobel Prizes are cited in 10,000 different papers."

Let’s look at this GDPR document. It has 77K links from 823 referring domains, but it has no external links at all. It’s a big missed opportunity. It could have built some internal links to other pages and helped improve the ranking of those pages.

Google does this one even better. Their SEO Starter Guide france telegram data PDF has 3.37K links from 754 referring domains, and they do a great job of passing value to other pages by linking out to the PDF.

You can add a link to a PDF document by following these steps:

Click the Edit PDF button in the right column
Click the Link drop -down menu and select Edit .
Click Add/Edit Web or Document Link
Draw a rectangle around the text you want to link
Set the Link type to Invisible Rectangle
Under Link Action , select Open a web page .
Add your website URL
