Especially now that online marketing is becoming more and more complex and German medium-sized companies in particular need more and more online marketing specialists, it has to be said that the market for experienced online marketing specialists looks pretty bad before it even really gets going. And when I say experience, I mean professional experience of more than 5 years.
I sometimes find it shocking how little experience, skills and knowledge many online marketing specialists have, especially in the in-house sector. On the one hand, this has to do with the fact that they are often thrown croatia phone number data in at the deep end and these positions are created on the side. There is often a complete lack of in-depth introduction or training in the subject. Depending on how much self-taught ability and interest you demonstrate, the result is a more or less experienced online marketing specialist. This dilemma then leads to many in-house positions, including management positions, being filled by employees who have just a few years of professional experience and no in-depth online marketing training.
The situation is often made worse by a lack of knowledge among HR managers, especially when online marketing departments are still being set up or are being newly created. Applicants can appear competent with a bit of technical vocabulary without anyone being able to prove otherwise during the application process. This can then lead to a disastrous interplay in which positions are filled with employees who are actually not particularly well qualified.
I don't want to tar everyone with the same brush here, as there are certainly many very well qualified and experienced online marketers in companies. But based on my many years of experience in agency recruiting and from various projects in which we have worked with in-house online marketing managers, I have to address this topic here.
Despite the increasing use of marketing automation, people are still the most important factor for the success of online marketing strategies and campaigns. And there is a shortage of well-trained and experienced staff due to a lack of training opportunities.
That is why I believe that supporting external recruiting advice and supported training in the area of online marketing are very important in many companies, especially in medium-sized businesses .
