Accelerated expansion of renewable energies

The expansion paths for onshore wind energy and solar energy are being significantly increased. From 2025, an annual output of 10 gigawatts (GW) of wind energy is to be achieved. It was last expanded by around 2 GW in 2021. From 2022 to 2025, the expansion rate will be gradually increased to the targeted 10 GW per year. The same applies to solar energy, where the expansion rate has been set at 22 GW per year from 2026. Here, too, the difference to the status quo is immense: in 2021, photovoltaic systems with an output of around 5 GW were added. Tender volumes and remuneration rates have been adjusted and set accordingly.

In addition, federal states are now obliged to make two percent of their land available for the expansion of wind energy by 2032. Currently, only 0.5 percent of the land is available for this nationwide. The interim ecuador consumer email list target is 1.4 percent by 2026. In line with the principle of giving priority to renewable energies described above, an amendment to the Federal Nature Conservation Act should also make it possible to include landscape conservation areas in the search for areas for the expansion of wind energy.

protection and participation of citizens
The Easter package is aimed directly at citizens in various areas. For example, citizen energy projects can be implemented in the future - without having to take part in a mandatory tender beforehand. In addition, consumers are to be better protected in the event of insolvent operators by requiring suppliers to report a planned termination of energy supplies to household customers to the Federal Network Agency and to the customers themselves three months in advance. In addition, the EEG surcharge for all consumers has been abolished since July 1, 2022. In the future, it will be financed through the federal budget.

Additional content
In addition to the changes mentioned above, the 500-page Easter package includes a number of other measures. These include, for example, a focus on highly flexible peak load power plants for biomass use, testing concepts for storing renewable energies in hydrogen with corresponding reconversion into electricity, and the participation of wind farm operators in financing grid expansion.
