"Once upon a time there was a hallway. Inside that hallway was a kitchen. In that kitchen sat Santa Claus, and he was dead."
I was praised for this introduction in middle school because it started so catchy. My Norwegian teacher thought she was going to read a fairy tale. She had read fairy tales that started with "once upon a time..." before, but this time she was wrong.
The most important function of the introduction is mayotte email list to answer the reader's question: Why should I read this? That's why the introduction is one of the most difficult things to write. The title has much of the same function and is, if possible, even more difficult.
There is no set formula for how to grab attention in the introduction. It really depends on the industry you are writing for and the target audience you are addressing. I have had success with making the introduction as creative and different as possible from the rest of the content. Maybe you can tell a relevant story or illustrate something? Telling a joke or creating a metaphor that describes a point are other possibilities.
