The more you zoom out a photo, the more definition it loses, which is why many people are reluctant to do so. But the trick is to find the balance.

Generally, the recommended size when optimizing images for the web is around 100 KB for small photos, 200 KB for medium-sized photos, and 500 KB for large ones.

The only thing you should keep in mind is that the total weight of the website ameriplan email list should never exceed 2 MB, in which case we should further reduce the size of the images it contains.

Types of images for web pages
It is clear that, in this case, size matters; but so does format. Therefore, before optimizing the images on your website, you need to know the most common formats in order to choose the one that best suits you in each case:

Images in JPG or JPEG format
It is the format derived from the application of the ISO/IEC 10918-1 standard for image compression . This standard establishes that said compression must be carried out by sectioning the image into sets of 8 x 8 pixels and passing from the RGB chromatic space to the YCbCr color scheme. Therefore, it allows for a higher compression than any other format.

Images in PNG format
The PNG (Portable Network Graphics) format is characterized by offering a color depth of up to 24 bits per pixel and the possibility of lossless image compression. For this reason, PNG photographs are usually of higher quality and take up more space than other formats, such as JPEG.

Images in GIF format
It is the oldest of the three formats and, although it is the poorest in terms of colour palette (it only uses 256 colours or, in other words, 8 bits) it is still the best option for creating small animations thanks to the combination of different images.

These are the three most common formats for web pages, however, Google recommends using next-generation images such as JPEG 2000, JPEG XR or WebP. So take note of this if you want to optimize your website's SEO.
