Why should this site win the 2011 Usability Award in the News & Entertainment category?
“This site excels in its simplicity and is very functional. We offer the visitor the possibility to watch the most current NOS Journaal 24 hours a day. But also think of political debates that you can follow live on the internet on the Politiek 24 channel. That is also used a lot. And if you like Dutch music, documentaries, history, then there is also a lot to watch at any time of the day. Nederland 24 combines news & entertainment and that makes the website unique.”

“To be honest, we still think the site is very nice and functional, so we have no development plans. We'll leave it as it is for now.”

Who is behind the website?
“A whole team is still working on the website on a daily basis. Jeroen Kramers and norway phone number list Marion van Dam from the Marketing department of the NPO were responsible for its creation. The site was developed by Headline Interactive, who also created the websites of Nederland 1 and Nederland 3 for us. The 12 theme channels are provided by the broadcasters, a small team takes care of the programming per theme. I myself did some project management.”

Why did the Netherlands vote for this website?
The Dutch internet public judged the 50 nominated websites on 4 usability criteria from 14 April to 13 May. Only websites with at least 1000 votes were then eligible for the Usability Award. Below are a number of quotes from people who voted for Nederland 24 :

“Good functional website, easy to use! I don’t even use a TV or cable connection anymore.”
“Nice and quiet!”
“It is very pleasant to stay informed online, especially live, about the news via news 24 and politics 24. I use it almost every day.”
The other nominees in the News & Entertainment category are Nu.nl and Ondertussen .
