The overarching theme of PICNIC this year was 'Urban Futures'. In addition, there were five sub-themes: design, society, media, sustainability and infrastructure. The future, urban developments and innovations have a strong connection with these themes. The third day was mainly about data collection and co-creation. PICNIC took place at a new location this year: the NDSM site. A conscious choice, since innovation is an important part of the festival.
New location
That PICNIC is also innovating can be seen in the choice of a new location. Kitty Leering (PICNIC program director) explained why this was chosen: “It is about pioneering, reinventing yourself and innovating. It also fits in well with PICNIC.” greece phone number list Kitty also indicated that the festival received very positive reactions. “The general atmosphere was good: there was a positive atmosphere and dynamism. The only real downside was that it was so cold on Wednesday.”
An 'eco-friendly lamp' with energy from algae, a 'bio-electric bonsai' to charge your phone or mp3 player and 'Nano wine'. Just a list of products that you could admire in the Nano supermarket on the site. Products that could possibly be developed between now and ten years on the basis of nanotechnology . Which product has the best chance of being on the shelves in the short term? Probably the eco-friendly algae lamp, the bonsai tree also has a good chance of being developed soon.
