Start the backup process
After you reset or clean install your computer, you can sign in to your Microsoft account and select the backup you want to restore your computer to.
To set up File History and automatic backup of your libraries, desktop, contacts, and favorites, follow these steps:
1. Open the Start menu, type File History in the search bar and select the top result.
2. In the File History window, Windows may automatically detect and select a compatible backup drive. To select a different drive, click Select Drive , select the drive you want or enter a network location, and click OK .

By default, File History will automatically back up your files every hour, saving them to a folder named File History on the drive you choose.
Exclude folders from file history
By default, File History backs up all library folders. To exclude specific folders, follow these steps:
1. Click " Exclude Folders " in the left menu.

Change backup frequency
You can configure the frequency of backups and the storage period for old versions:
