Social media in election campaigns is overrated

I tweet every day and have two blogs that I post on weekly. My LinkedIn profile, with more than 13,000 contacts, is among the top eight percent of my industry according to the social network itself (and I assume there are some cracks in my industry). And yet I still say: social media in election campaigns is massively overrated.

The media, of course, likes the story of the invisible powers philippines rcs data on the Internet. Politicians are fascinated by how you can apparently move mountains without much effort and at little cost. What I notice, however, is that it is mainly those who rave about social media in election campaigns who earn their living from it. Independent scientific studies take a more sober view.

Of course, that doesn't mean that you shouldn't use the tools that are available. As I mentioned at the beginning, I do that myself. The basic rule is that social media is more suitable for personal election campaigns than for party election campaigns. Social media is effective when it is authentic and when the candidate himself builds it up over a longer period of time. Speaking of building up: it is particularly important that you use social media to build up an email and WhatsApp list. Because that is how you get votes.
