In the last Webmaster Hangout, a user asked how he could ensure that the crawling of his website could be temporarily interrupted. Why would someone want something like that? During "Black Week," a user wanted to temporarily stop the crawling frequency of his website. This also works with a corresponding change in the specified crawl frequency, but Google employee John Müller suggested in the Webmaster Hangouts that a 503 status message should be used instead when calling the robots.txt file. This would let the Google bot know that the website cannot currently be crawled. However, this should not be a permanent state, as otherwise it would give the impression that the website could disappear from the index in the worst case scenario.
With the rise of Alexa, Google Home and the rcs data saudi arabia Apple HomePod, the question also arises as to how one's own website can be optimized for these voice assistants. And not just for these stations at home, because Siri and Co. can also be used on the go. If your own website is already search engine optimized, you don't need to do much to optimize voice search. A recent article by SISTRIX points out the special features of voice search and the extent to which this is really relevant for SEO. According to the author Juan Gonzalez, there are often many half-truths and rumors about voice search for which there is little to no evidence. On the one hand, this is because Google itself has not provided any new information on this for several years. This logically leaves a lot of room for speculation. You can find out what Juan Gonzalez recommends in the Sistrix article.
John Müller answered another question in the last webmaster hangout, this time on the topic of crawl budget. In the old Google Search Console, it was possible to call up the crawl statistics of the website. From this, you could deduce the so-called crawl budget, which specifies how many pages are crawled and how often the crawler visits the website. John Müller was unable to provide any precise information on this. However, he gave a vague indication that something similar to the crawl statistics would be returned to the new Search Console.
