And in election time, 'honest' becomes worn out

Post by Bappy11 »

Words are like the weather. 'Sun', 'rain' and 'wind' are always sun, rain and wind. Within that lies a range of observations and evaluations. Sun is usually nice, rain and wind are not. But I also know situations where it was the other way around.

This is how words can temporarily become contaminated. Since the government of tolerance, 'normal' and 'Act normally' have become part of the vocabulary of highly responsible gentlemen who behave like toddlers. So you can't just use them for a while because everyone thinks of polarizing bluntness or giggly incompetence.
Honestly clear Henk' didn't make it. Nor did 'fair distribution'. The party leader who tells an 'honest story' is better than the rest. So they are all honest. But word contamination blows over by itself. Politics too, actually, if you take some distance.

Not Grata
In the world of visual arts, there are words that are non grata . When I germany telegram data graduated as a photographer, I was told that my work was 'good'. Not good in English because I had gone to the extreme in my own way to expose my feelings. No, good. That as a pat on the back with your diploma. The word has been tainted for years, for me.
