Artur: You are creating a marketplace for the medical industry. How did it happen that you started implementing such an idea? Znany Lekarz was probably already on the market at that time. Did you wake up one day with the idea that: "I have an idea for a startup. It will be Booking.com for the medical industry"?
Marcin: I have to make a correction here. I did not invent Klinika.pl. It was invented by someone else, who is unfortunately no longer in the company. The company has quite a long history, because it started 8 years ago, so at that time Znany Lekarz was not as big as it is today. Thanks to this, Rafał and Darek, who founded this business, had an easier time thinking about a marketplace in the medical industry. However, the genesis was still different.
In our case, even benchmarking on Znany Lekarz did not take place, because the iran rcs data company was called Tourmedica here. I was the one who carried out the process of changing the brand from Tourmedica to Kliniki.pl. It happened a little more than that. In September 2020, we changed Tourmedica to Kliniki.pl. Besides, that's when we started working together, because Tourmedica has spent almost a penny on marketing throughout its entire history. Tourmedica was supposed to be a marketplace for foreigners who want to come to Poland for treatment, i.e. it was supposed to be based on the industry called medical tourism. However, by pure coincidence, the guys ended up with more Poles making appointments through Tourmedica in Poland than, for example, Englishmen, Germans or Swedes.
Rebranding
Artur: Of course, I remember this story, but can you tell others about it? The target market or target group was completely different and Poles, as you said, started to register. But that probably wasn't enough of an incentive for such a far-reaching change? Many startups that I know would probably stick to their basic idea and continue with it. However, you and the other people involved decided that this direction should be changed. What happened that made you decide that a complete change and a focus on Kliniki.pl, rebranding and a slightly different target market or product itself would be a good decision?
